The Amsterdam Ship Museum contains a complete history of
the Dutch as a searfaring nation. Several intact ships are
part of the museum, including the Amsterdam, a replica of a
Dutch sailing vessel from the 1700's. It was constructed in
the Netherlands using original tools,materials, and
methods. Its sistership, the Batavia, resides in Lelystat
in the province of Flavoland. It was also constructed using
original tools, materials, and methods.
